Raimsa consolidates itself as a supplier for Mercadona

Mercadona maintained its significant level of investment in agri-food suppliers in the province of Alicante (Spain) during the past year 2017, with purchases exceeding 714 million euros, a 13% increase compared to the previous year.

Raimsa Grapes: Prominent supplier for Mercadona in the agri-food sector. The Valencian supermarket chain, leading in national revenue, currently works with 10 inter-suppliers and around 900 SMEs in the province of Alicante, in an agri-food sector that generates over 8,000 direct and indirect jobs.

In 2017, Mercadona purchased over 8.8 million kg of table grapes from various suppliers in the Medio Vinalopó (Spain) region, with Raimsa Grapes once again standing out, solidifying our company’s presence as a trusted supplier for the Valencian chain.

Mercadona is the leading retail chain in Spain, with 1,676 supermarkets, of which 1,637 are located in Spain and 39 in Portugal. These establishments have an average surface area of 1300 m², following the model known as urban proximity commerce.

Mercadona has a total workforce of 99,000 employees and holds the largest market share in the distribution sector in Spain, accounting for 25.8%.
